Songtext: The Monster Inside Me

Ref.: Inside me grows a monster
Waits in a deep dark hole
Eats all my reasonable thoughts
Just leaves the black part of my soul

1. There was a time when I had control
About my thoughts and affections
From deep inside came this monster and stole
The concious part of my actions

It came without any warning word
Without me seeing it enter
I guess it had always been inside
so secretly in my centre

Just leaves the black part of my soul

2. The part of me I used to fear
That only appeared in my nightmares
I tried to close it away from me
In rationalism and lightsquares

I only wanted to see those things
Imagined colourful abstractions
Inside my head only circles an squares
Performing their own reflections

3. I don´t know what kind of voice it is
That talks through my mouth like a stranger
I don´t reecognize it anymore
I only feel that it´s danger

But deep inside me I know it´s me
The part I drowned in forgetting
Too long closed away, too deep, too strong
So angry, it forces regretting

4. I´m so afraid, still I want to know
What put it into my feeling
Who could have possibly been so cruel
And where can I find any healing?

5. Oh help, it eats what I used to be
What I had thought was reality
What´s left is the broken part of me
It kills my rationality!

6. Inside, I know what it really wants
It wants to be realized, be seen
It asks for the love it deserves to get
As a part of me it had always been

Oh live, my monster, sleep and dream
I won´t forget you are inside
I love, I keep, I hold you deep
I respect what made you want to fight

In front of a deep dark hole
The hole somebody once cut in
But my keeper now takes care of my soul
