A vibrator is a sex toy that vibrates. Vibrators are used for sexual pleasure and can be used to stimulate the clitoris, nipples, penis or anus. They may be used during masturbation or with another person; they can also be inserted into the vagina or anus.They were first patented in 1869 by American doctor George Taylor, who invented a steam-powered version of the device that was called “the manipulator” and intended to treat what he termed "irritation" of the female reproductive organs. The first electric vibrator was patented in 1902 by U.S.-based doctor Robert Whitehead (1840–1934), who intended it as a body massager; this particular model however was not manufactured until 1904 by Ives McGaffrey Rea (1845–1929) under his own name.[2]
