The three wishes

The Three Wishes

Once upon a time, a little girl went for a walk alone in the lush green forest. Suddenly, she spotted a small baby bird lying on the ground, its eyes closed and its body bare. It had fallen from its parents’ nest. The little girl gently picked up the baby bird with both hands and placed it back in the nest, which she could just reach. The parent birds chirped their gratitude loudly.
In that moment, a delicate, pastel-colored column of smoke appeared before the little girl, transforming into a beautiful young woman. And then the woman spoke to the girl, saying, “You have saved one of my protégés from certain death, and in return, you are granted three wishes.“ The little girl pondered for a moment and then declared, “My first wish is for my family and me to remain healthy forever and to pass away peacefully at an old age. My second wish is to find someone who loves me and whom I love and can share my life with him. And my third wish is to have enough money one day to embark on a sea voyage to India. These are my three wishes.”

The fairy—because that is what she was—responded, “Since you have been so modest with your wishes, I will grant you infinite wealth as well.”
The little girl was overjoyed. She hurried home to share her extraordinary experience with her family. With her newfound wealth, she did many good deeds for those less fortunate than herself, and she also fulfilled her dream of sailing to India.
And they lived happily ever after...
